KRQE News 13: Senators push for more wildfire funds

U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich and Jeff Flake continue their push to bring more federal funding to fight wildfires.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) lead a discussion with members from The Wellness Coalition, a non-profit coalition dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people of southwest New Mexico. The coalition serves Grant, Luna, Hidalgo, and Catron Counties where they assess youth needs and identify service gaps in the community. The organization also connects youth to New Mexico's AmeriCorps Program and helps run the Youth Conservation Corps for three counties. As a member of the National Service Congressional Caucus and the only sitting senator to have served in AmeriCorps, Senator Heinrich is a staunch supporter of the coalition's Youth Corps program.

April 28, 2014:

At 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, following any Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to a period of morning business until 5:30 p.m., with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each and with the time equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees.
