Heinrich discusses how Iran nuclear deal affects uranium facilities

During a U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee hearing to consider the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the long-term comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran that will verifiably prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) discussed with U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Dr. Ernest Moniz on how a covert and undeclared uranium facility in Iran would violate the JCPOA agreement.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich fishes the San Antonio Creek in the Valles Caldera National Preserve, one of many outdoor spaces in New Mexico that is protected by the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Senator Heinrich worked to pass legislation that transitioned management of the preserve from a Board of Trustees to the National Park Service to increase public access.

At 2:00 p.m. on Monday, following any Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S. 1881, a bill to prohibit Federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a cloture vote on the motion to proceed to S. 1881.
