Heinrich Advocates For Laboratory Directed Research And Development Program

During a Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee hearing today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich discussed the importance of funding for the U.S. Department of Energy's Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program. LDRD investments help national laboratories, including Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory, advance their national security missions in the field of science and engineering. The program also helps attract and retain top researchers from around the world, fosters collaborations with large and small businesses, and promotes innovation.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich joined U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment Katherine Hammack, U.S. Congressman Ben Ray Luján, and senior Bureau of Land Management officials to announce the approval of the SunZia Southwest Transmission Line at the National Solar Thermal Test Facility at Sandia National Laboratories.

March 4, 2015:

At 9:30 a.m., following any Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of S.J. Res. 8 (NLRB) with two hours of debate equally divided between the two Leaders or their designees. Upon the use or yielding back of time, the Senate will proceed to a vote on passage of the NLRB joint resolution of disapproval, and cloture on the Keystone veto override. Depending on how much Leader time is used, the votes should begin shortly after 11:30 a.m.
