They’re Lining Their Pockets with Your Tax Dollars

Dear Friend, 

Last week, Senate Republicans tucked an Easter egg into the spending bill. An Easter egg that will virtually guarantee that eight Republican senators pocket millions of your taxpayer dollars. All because a grand jury lawfully subpoenaed their phone records as part of a legitimate criminal investigation.

This is at the same time as hardworking people around the country are struggling to pay for their groceries, losing their health care, and wondering how they’re going to make ends meet. It’s outrageous.

That’s why this week, I introduced the Anti-Cash Grab Act. This bill will shut down this taxpayer-funded kickback. It will eliminate these retroactive $500,000-per-instance cash claims for the eight senators in question. And it will keep the door open for legitimate, future reforms – without any self-enriching loopholes.
