Senator Heinrich highlighted the importance of investing in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education and how math and science can help make decisions based on data. Senator Heinrich is a strong proponent on STEM education and the only engineer in the U.S. Senate.

              U.S. Senator Heinrich toured Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque on February 20, 2014. Hospital administrators briefed the Senator on new programs to promote early cancer screening and health care enrollment. They also discussed ways to recruit and retain doctors and nurses who want to focus on women’s health and preventative care. Senator Heinrich also met with doctors, nurses, and staff from the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
