Chaco Canyon Needs Your Voice

Chaco Canyon is one of the most sacred and culturally significant places in New Mexico. And right now, we need you to help us protect it by submitting a public comment before July 29.

For generations, Tribes, local communities, advocates, and elected officials have worked to protect this living cultural landscape and the communities connected to it.

Now, the Trump administration is trying to undo that work.

The Trump administration announced its proposal last week to fully revoke the 20-year mineral withdrawal protections surrounding the sacred Chaco Culture National Historical Park. And rather than engaging in meaningful Tribal consultation, it has given the public just 14 days to weigh in. That means there is only a short window for New Mexicans to make their voices heard and stand up for the protections Chaco Canyon deserves.

I’m asking you to make your voice heard. Please submit a public comment before the July 29 deadline and tell the Trump administration to keep these protections in place.

Chaco Canyon is part of our shared history and a living cultural landscape that holds deep meaning for Tribes in New Mexico. I hope you will join me in doing our part to protect this sacred place and ensure it remains for future generations.
