Trump is Once Again Attacking Your Public Lands.

Dear Friend,

Right now, the Trump Administration is once again attacking your public lands. This time, they are trying to rescind the Roadless Rule – a rule that protects nearly 45 million acres of public forest land from road development.

This protection is critical to preventing wildfires, protecting clean water sources, and supporting recreation economies. As a sportsman myself, I rely on these protected areas to fill my game freezer and feed my family throughout the year. I know many of you do, too.

VIDEO: U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, urges American people to make their voices heard in the public comment process on the proposal to rescind the Roadless Rule, September 17, 2025.

So yesterday, I went to the Senate floor in support of the Roadless Rule and our public lands. I asked the Forest Service to expand the public comment window so that every concerned citizen can contribute; and I asked my fellow legislators to join me in supporting public lands.

This week, I urge you to make your voice known by submitting a public comment here by Friday, September 19, when the Forest Service comment window closes.

Sincerely,

MARTIN HEINRICH
United States Senator
