Touring New Mexico's Bootheel Border Region, April 30, 2016

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) toured the U.S.-Mexico border in the Bootheel region of southern New Mexico with U.S. Border Patrol. In response to concerns raised recently by residents of Hidalgo County about border security, Senator Heinrich is calling for additional resources and equipment to help local Border Patrol agents more effectively patrol the region's vast rugged terrain. During his visit to the region, Senator Heinrich met with Hidalgo County Ranchers Judy Keeler and Levi Klump at the Klump Ranch in Animas. He then had lunch with Hidalgo County Sheriff Warren D. Walter at Camp Garza, Animas. Senator Heinrich spent the rest of the day with U.S. Border Patrol agents at Camp Garza and touring the border region.
