      At a press conference with the 58th Special Operations Wing in a hanger at Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich announced that KAFB will receive a new combat search and rescue helicopter fleet to replace current aging aircraft. KAFB will be the first Air Force installation in the country to receive the new Combat Rescue Helicopters (CRH). According to the fielding plan, KAFB will receive a total of 14 Combat Rescue Helicopters between fiscal year 2020 and 2028. Senator Heinrich fought against a proposal to terminate the helicopter replacement program in 2014 and has advocated on the Senate Armed Services Committee to replace the existing fleet.

        U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich joined the Los Alamos National Laboratory Major Subcontractors Consortium (MSC) in a meeting where he met several New Mexico small business owners. LANL subcontractors employ approximately 2,000 New Mexico workers. MSC supports education, economic development, and community giving throughout Northern New Mexico.

              U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich hosted a flag presentation ceremony to honor Vietnam War veteran George Perez for his service to our nation and commitment to serve other fellow veterans. Mr. Perez is a volunteer at Disabled American Veterans in Albuquerque, where he works to connect veterans to earned benefits. Senator Heinrich is committed to ensuring the United States keeps its promises to our men and women in uniform. Senator Heinrich worked to pass Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Fiscal Year 2016 Appropriations bill to help the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) make critical steps toward eliminating the veterans claims backlog.
