    U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and Senate Armed Services Committee, travels to the Middle East for a weeklong national security trip focused on the U.S. fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Senator Heinrich visited Iraq, Kuwait, and the Horn of Africa where he met with top military officials to discuss operations against ISIL, Al Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations, and visited with U.S. troops from New Mexico.

            U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich celebrates Independence Day at the Rio Rancho Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5890 open house and hosts a flag ceremony to honor our nation's servicemembers and their families. Senator Heinrich met with local veterans and military families and to presented the VFW Post 5890 with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol.
