The event is designed to highlight successful community economic development efforts in New Mexico and across the country that are connected to public lands and develop policies and local entrepreneurship opportunities. The outdoor recreation economy directly contributes $9.9 billion in consumer spending annually and employs 99,000 people in New Mexico.

          U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) continued his Local Food Tour at De Smet Dairy in Bosque Farms, New Mexico’s only Grade A dairy farm and bottling facility for raw milk and pasteurized, non-homogenized milk and yogurt. Heinrich explored the family history behind the dairy and how their dairy cows are free grazing and grass-fed year-round, in addition to being free of hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs.

            U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) hosted a series of workshops with the City of Santa Fe, City of Albuquerque, and Bernalillo County designed to connect art organizations and artists with federal, local, and private resources. The workshops helped educate local arts organizations and artists on how to successfully compete for federal, local, and private funding, as well as foreign government commissions and public art commissions.
