U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) joins U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx in Albuquerque to tour the Paseo I-25 Interchange Reconstruction Project and participates in a roundtable discussion at the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce on the need to invest in infrastructure projects. Investments in public transit, roads, and alternative forms of transportation help increase economic development and tourism opportunities.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) joins U.S. Department of Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.), U.S. Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham, and Bernalillo County Commissioner Art De La Cruz at the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge to announce $8 million in federal funding to improve access to the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge in Albuquerque’s South Valley. Members of the Native American Urban Youth Corps and the local community also attended the event.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) toured OptiSource, a photonics manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, to discuss its latest projects and how research and development can help spur innovation and job creation. Optisource, a local photonics business, manufacturers wave plates, mirrors, prisms, and laser beamsplitters for purchase by industry and research and development groups at universities and laboratories.

During the tour, he met with members of the Native American Urban Youth Corps and partners from La Plazita and Rio Grande Bird Research, Inc. Making the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge a reality has been a community effort and is representative of New Mexico's tremendous role in preserving America's outdoor heritage.

Aztec Ruins National Monument, August 29, 2014 »
U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich tours the Aztec Ruins National Monument and receives a briefing on the recent construction of a pedestrian trail and bridge. The two projects connect visitors from downtown Aztec to the national monument. The Federal Transit Administration funded the trail construction as part of the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program. The program, administered through the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Interior, and U.S. Forest Service, seeks to conserve natural, historic, and cultural resources while reducing congestion and improving visitor mobility and accessibility. Construction on both the pedestrian trail and bridge is nearly complete.
