ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Nov. 21, 2019) – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and U.S. Representative Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), in collaboration with Bernalillo County, will host a Health Care & Open Enrollment Resource Fair tomorrow, Friday, November 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. MT at the South Valley Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 2008 Larrazolo Road SW, Albuquerque, N.M. 87105.
The fair will help connect area residents with federal and state insurance providers during open enrollment, which runs until December 15, 2019.There will also be free health screenings, free flu shots, a blood drive, blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose checks, and bone marrow donation swabbing for anyone interested in helping a patient at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology.
“I am focused on helping New Mexican’s have the resources they need to find the right health plan that is best for them and their families, while also getting a free health check in the process,” said Heinrich. “I encourage everyone that needs assistance finding the right health care coverage to drop by on Friday and get covered.”
“Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable health care, but this administration has shortened the health care enrollment period and slashed funding for outreach," said Haaland. "That’s why Senator Heinrich and I are hosting an event to make sure everyone can get a free health screening while getting access to the help they need to get the health care coverage that works for their families before the December 15th deadline."
For those that cannot make it to the fair, Senator Heinrich and Congresswoman Haaland are encouraging everyone to visit New Mexico’s health insurance exchange at www.bewellnm.com to shop for health insurance plans for 2020. For additional information, applicants can also call 1-833-862-3935 to talk to an enrollment counselor for free. Coverage options will be available until the open enrollment period ends on December 15.
