WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) is providing New Mexicans with critical resources and raising awareness about the health threat posed by COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. Today, Heinrich launched a Coronavirus Resource Center on his website to provide information about the virus and tools to help New Mexicans stay healthy.
“It’s critical that we all stay informed about the coronavirus and what we can do to protect ourselves from it and other illnesses. If you have any questions, please be sure to speak with your health care provider and utilize these resources from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the coronavirus,” said Heinrich. “I remain focused on ensuring our state has the resources it needs to keep families informed and healthy, and hold the Trump administration accountable for conducting a coordinated and science-based response that matches the seriousness of this outbreak.”
There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in New Mexico, but the New Mexico Department of Health urges New Mexicans to protect themselves by avoiding all non-essential travel to China and following good hygiene practices to stop the spread of germs, similar to preventing the flu. This includes washing hands regularly, as well as coughing and sneezing into a sleeve or tissue.
