Heinrich Recognizes Hispanics' Contributions To New Mexico's Conservation Legacy

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the U.S. Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, joined U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D-Col.) to introduce the bipartisan Latino Conservation Resolution during Hispanic Heritage Month. The resolution recognizes the contributions of the Latino community to conservation and wildlife protection, and urges increased access to public lands for all Americans.

“The Hispanic community has been instrumental in conservation efforts in New Mexico like the Rio Grande del Norte and Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks national monuments," said Sen. Heinrich. "I am proud to honor the contributions that the Latino community has made to increase access to the outdoors and improve the health and resiliency of New Mexico’s land, water, wildlife, and the communities that depend on them. This resolution is the first of its kind to acknowledge how the Hispanic community has influenced and enriched our nation through conservation."

The resolution has the support of the Latino Conservation Alliance, which includes the Hispanic Access Foundation (HAF), GreenLatinos, Latino Outdoors, Hispanic Federation, and Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting, and the Outdoors (HECHO).
