WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced that a resolution he co-sponsored marking May 5th, 2025 as National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls passed the U.S. Senate last night.
Albuquerque and Gallup have the highest number of missing and murdered Indigenous women cases in the state, according to the New Mexico Department of Justice. As of April 2025, 186 native people were reported as missing in New Mexico.
