READOUT: Heinrich Visits Evacuation Center In Ruidoso, Fire Line; Receives McBride, Nogal Fire Update

ALBUQERUQUE, N.M. – On Saturday, April 16, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) met with the Southwest Are Type 1 Incident Management Team 2 for a fire briefing and tour of key impacts areas of the McBride and Nogal Fires. 

Senator Heinrich also met with Lincoln County and Village of Ruidoso Emergency Managers to discuss recovery efforts and tour the temporary evacuation center set up at the Ruidoso Convention Center. At the center, he met with county and village officials to discuss the immediate response coordination, recovery support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and federal funding for fire mitigation in the Wildland-Urban Interface included in the Infrastructure Law. 

Senator Heinrich expressed his gratitude to firefighters and management teams that are maintaining the fires and keeping area residents safe.

Senator Heinrich is monitoring the situation closely and continues to stay in communication with relevant local, state, and federal officials.
