Heinrich highlights success of Valles Caldera National Preserve

During a a Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources hearing on the U.S. Department of the Interior's (DOI) fiscal year 2017 budget request, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich discussed the success of transitioning the Valles Caldera National Preserve to new management. In 2014, Senator Heinrich worked to pass legislation that was signed into law to transfer management of the Valles Caldera National Preserve to the National Park Service (NPS). The Preserve now has expanded public hours, a new hiking trail, and additional opportunities for elk and turkey hunting. February 23, 2016
