La Cosecha Dual Language Conference, November 6, 2015

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich met with students participating in the annual La Cosecha Dual Language Conference Student Leadership Institute. This year's program brought together more than 200 students in 8th-12th grades and their families to engage in positive youth-driven school projects. Senator Heinrich discussed how critical dual language and leadership skills are for building stronger communities. He also spoke at La Cosecha Dual Language Conference’s Parents Dinner where he discussed the provisions he included in the Every Child Achieves Act to strengthen dual language programs. There are currently more than 50,000 students in New Mexico participating in programs for English learners.
