Heinrich Condemns Chemical Weapons Attack in Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement condemning the Assad regime’s horrific chemical weapons attack on civilians in Syria:

“I am disgusted and angered by the reports that chemical weapons were used in an attack in Syria that has killed dozens of innocent people, including children. Secretary Tillerson suggested that President Assad could stay in power merely days ago, and this is how he responded. When any individual or country chooses to ignore the international norms against chemical weapons, they have made a deeply immoral decision with worldwide implications—implications that the United States and the international community cannot ignore.”
