We are 13 hours away from a Republican government shutdown.
Let’s be clear: Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. If a government shutdown happens, it is because Republicans chose to shut down the government. It is because they refused to negotiate in good faith with Democrats. And it is because they chose not to pass a bipartisan funding bill that addresses the health crisis they created – including reversing devastating cuts to Medicaid and extending vital ACA tax credits.
Last week, I met with folks who will be directly impacted by these cuts — folks who know exactly how badly skyrocketing healthcare premiums and the loss of premium subsidies will hurt hardworking New Mexicans.
When it comes to your health care, I won’t back down. With costs on the rise, I’ll keep fighting for a government funding bill that makes health care less expensive, not more.
