Heinrich Announces $20M For New Air Force Construction Project At Holloman

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, welcomed an announcement from the U.S. Air Force that it will build a $20 million Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications War Reserve Material Storage and Shipment facility at Holloman Air Force Base. Through this funding, Holloman will build warehouse space for fuel support equipment and container storage for expendable, Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resource (BEAR) assets.

The BEAR Base mission at Holloman rapidly deploys military assets to anywhere in the world. Within 22 days, BEAR Base Airmen at Holloman can supply, train, and build a fully operational airfield or forward operating base to support any operation, including combat and humanitarian missions.

“BEAR Base at Holloman is a unique and critical mission that enables our military to be effective anywhere in the world. The decision to invest further in Holloman is a reflection of the importance of the BEAR Base mission, and the exceptional training environment and expertise that New Mexico has to offer. Located just six miles from Alamogordo, Holloman contributes to the local economy and is part of a top-notch community that supports its airmen unlike any other in the country,” said Senator Heinrich. “I will continue using my position on the Armed Services committee to highlight the unique advantages that our state and our people offer to the military.”
