VIDEO: Heinrich Questions Department Of Energy On Trump Administration Directive To Subsidize Coal Plants

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During an Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) questioned the Department of Energy's rationale for subsidizing uneconomic coal plants.

Senator Heinrich pressed Bernard McNamee, Executive Director, Office of Policy, U.S. Department of Energy, on the Trump Administration's unprecedented directive to the Department of Energy to require rate-payers to subsidize certain resources, coal-fired and nuclear power plants, under the guise of national security.

A list of witnesses and testimony, and the archived webcast of today's hearing will be available here.
