Udall, Heinrich Announce $23 Million Of Federal Funding For N.M. Airports

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced more than $23 million in grants to support air transportation infrastructure at 26 airports across New Mexico. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration awarded the Air Improvement Program grants to fund airport rehabilitation and provide critical new equipment.

“New Mexico’s airports drive local economic growth, and maintaining them is critical to building robust communities in every part of our state," said Udall. "These grants will enable our airports to update crucial infrastructure, expand in capacity, and ensure that New Mexico remains a hub for visitors and business travelers alike. As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations and Commerce committees, I’ll keep fighting for funding for New Mexico’s infrastructure to create jobs and support tourism throughout the state.”

“Our local airports connect communities all across New Mexico to tourism, business opportunities, and commercial aviation. I’m proud to support these critical investments to modernize their infrastructure and improve safety," said Heinrich. "I will continue to support critical infrastructure investments like this that build the foundation for long-term economic growth and job creation in our state.”
