Heinrich, Rounds Announce Growing Bipartisan Senate Support For Cadillac Tax Repeal

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 30, 2019) – Today, U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Mike Rounds lauded the Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 reaching 50 bipartisan Senate cosponsors – and are urging swift action on their legislation to repeal the so-called Cadillac Tax. On July 17, the House version passed by a vote of 419-6. Senators Heinrich and Rounds sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer last week imploring swift action on the legislation.

Senators Heinrich and Rounds issued the following statement:

“There is strong support for repealing the Cadillac Tax on and off Capitol Hill. Between the House and Senate bills, we have gathered over 400 bipartisan cosponsors and more than 600 organizations across the country have voiced support for the repeal of this burdensome tax. At a time when health care expenses continue to go up, and Congress remains divided on many issues, the repeal of the Cadillac Tax is something that has true bipartisan support. We look forward to working with Senate Leadership to pass this bill that will benefit hardworking Americans across the country.”
